Awards for Students

Each spring, student members are encouraged to nominate themselves or other members for the following three national awards. (One individual per chapter may be nominated for each award.) All awards are presented at the 2017 National Convention in Columbus, Ohio, August 10-12. 

APPLICATION DEADLINE: JUNE 30

  • Outstanding Leader  NOMINATE SOMEONE OR APPLY NOW
    • Awarded to an outstanding leader whose chapter nominates her based on extraordinary accomplishments in Sigma Alpha and elsewhere in her college experiences.
  • Outstanding New Member  NOMINATE SOMEONE OR APPLY NOW
    • Awarded to a new member whose chapter nominates her based on exemplary accomplishments in Sigma Alpha.
  • Outstanding Senior  NOMINATE SOMEONE OR APPLY NOW
    • Awarded to a graduating senior whose chapter nominates her based on extraordinary accomplishments in Sigma Alpha and elsewhere in her college experiences.

In addition, every student who meets certain academic achievement criteria is awarded with the following honor by the National Sorority Board:

  • Emerald Scholar
    • Awarded to active members (or alumni who graduated the spring or summer term prior to National Convention/Conclave) who hold a 3.75 (4.0 scale) or higher cumulative GPA through the previous fall term. The cumulative GPA for each chapter member (for both Fall and Spring terms or Fall, Winter and Spring quarters) will be awarded. Chapter member GPAs must be submitted on chapter term reports to qualify for this award.
